[05] TextExpander

February 6, 2007

TextExpander is a not-to-be missed utility to insert frequently-used texts and images on-the-fly by typing its customised abbreviations. It is really useful when filling out forms or inserting email signatures. It can also insert the current date and time in any format.

The program stays on the menu bar so much so that you tend to forget you have it in the first place.

[04] Senuti

February 5, 2007

With iPod we no longer have physical stacks of CDs collection anymore as we mostly transfer them all into our iPod library. But what happen when you need, for some reasons, to transfer those songs and playlists back to iTunes.

By default, iTunes does not allow you to do just that. Download Senuti. A simple application that will do everything in reverse; transfering everything from your iPod back to your computer with ease.

[03] MacRumors

February 4, 2007

Two years ago I had my first mac mini and fell in love with OS X immediately. I have since abandoned XP for the beauty of OS Panther and MacRumors was definitely and still my only source of mac knowledge.

It is a community of great people sharing great ideas and teaching switchers like I was. With over 3 millions posts and close to 100,000 members, what else is there to say.

[02] QuickSilver

February 2, 2007

One of the best piece of software ever and you won’t take it for granted. QuickSilver allows you to open any application just by typing its abbreviation without leaving your keyboard. In my case, press and hold [F] key will open Firefox.

Hitting [tab] commands it to do other actions such as emailing, moving to trash, resizing an image and lots more. Once used, it’s indispensable. Oh, it has one of the coolest icon, really.

[01] AppDelete

February 1, 2007

This should be the first 3rd party application to use before anyone should start downloading any application and, if any, removing it later.

We usually drag-to-trash to delete any application and *boom* it goes deleted but some associated files still remains albeit no harm at all. Of course if you mind its presence, which I don’t, you could use AppDelete to delete the associated files and folders and it has the “Undo” function too.

[00] Hello!

February 1, 2007

Today I made a commitment to join the blog community. I was thinking the other day to make a compilation of useful & free (yes! FREE) mac softwares (sorry folks! I’m not a PC user so…) and what better way than to do (blog) it here. I know there are already a handful of them but my purpose is to have them all compiled here just like my personal online library.

And of course to share them.
